Microneedling is a popular procedure that works to tighten, lift, and rejuvenate the skin. It's effective in reducing fine lines and wrinkles, stretch marks, surgical and acne scars. Fractional microneedling or collagen induction therapy (CIT) uses needles to pierce the skin in a controlled and precise pattern resulting in the release of growth factors and the induction of collagen. As we get older, the production of the skin’s collagen gets slower. This causes the skin to look "tired." Microneedling creates a more youthful skin appearance because it stimulates the production of new collagen. Microneedling can be used to minimize wrinkles and enlarged pores as well as to improve the appearance of scars in all skin types.
Microneedling optimizes the delivery of topical skin care products. Depending on your skin type, Dr. Chiang may add Vitamin C or growth factors to your treatment to give you the best results possible.
Microneedling is safe on any skin type, including dark skin. It has a short treatment time. Most procedures last 45 minutes.
Microneedling is contraindicated in patients who are on Accutane, pregnant or have an ongoing infection.
Microneedling has minimal discomfort. Topical anesthesia is also available for our patients.
Microneedling is cost-effective, especially compared to other resurfacing laser procedures.
Microneedling has virtually no downtime. The treated skin may appear pink/light red while it is being repaired from within. Some describe this mild redness as how they look after a sunburn. For some, there may be pinpoint bleeding, especially if a deeper treatment is performed. This may last a few days, but can be easily concealed with light make-up. The healing process is fast and painless. Most patients go back to their daily routine the next day.
Results are noticed 3-5 weeks after treatment. Results most commonly noticed by the patient include:
-Improved skin texture
-Decreased pore size
-Reduced appearance of scar and stretch marks
-Decrease fine wrinkles, especially around the mouth (smoker's lines) and the eyes (crow's feet)
-Overall skin glow
Single microneedling treatments can be performed, but a series of 3 to 5 treatments at monthly time intervals are often recommended to maximize the clinical response. The initial consultation is helpful in understanding what your individual skin condition requires. Microneedling: A revolutionary breakthrough for beautiful skin!
